Great Neck, New York

Project Overview

This renovation project focused on a 1931 Craftsman Colonial home in Great Neck, blending historic charm with modern updates. The comprehensive transformation included reworking the basement, laundry room, kitchen, bathrooms, and essential living spaces. We carefully preserved the home’s architectural integrity while modernizing its features.

Unique Element

The first-floor layout was redesigned for better flow, featuring an expanded kitchen with a built-in banquette window seat and an enclosed formal dining room. We used High-quality materials like tumbled marble and travertine countertops to maintain the home’s timeless character. Bespoke elements, including custom cabinetry and a fireplace with an integrated television, added a touch of modern convenience without compromising on elegance.

Custom Creations

Special attention was given to the flooring, using a water pop technique to achieve a rich walnut finish that enhanced the interior’s warmth. Mechanical system upgrades, such as central air and updated electrical, were seamlessly integrated without disturbing the original moldings. The primary bedroom, bathroom, nursery, and office received custom lighting, drapery, and design elements that complemented the traditional aesthetic.

In The Details

Transforming with an expanded driveway, revamped retaining walls, and reimagined landscaping elevated the exterior. We carefully restored the balcony handrail and slate flooring while designing new copper gutters to align with the home’s historical look. The landscape lighting added a refined touch, accentuating the property’s architectural beauty. The project’s success lay in balancing preservation and modernization, making thoughtful design choices from mahogany doors to custom details.
