East Quogue, New York
Project Overview
The East Quogue project involves a meticulous restoration to address the extensive water damage from a prolonged leak. The process restores the property to its original grandeur and enhances its functionality and elegance. Advanced Matterport scanning technology ensures accurate documentation and restoration.
Unique Element
The East Quogue project featured several unique elements that set it apart from other restorations. The home, adorned with Venetian plaster walls and hand-glazed cabinets, required an exacting restoration process. Intricate stencil designs and inlaid borders on the floors were meticulously reproduced to preserve the home’s unique aesthetic. The millwork installation was custom-built and installed piece by piece on-site, requiring the careful extraction and reinstallation of multiple components, including built-ins in the dining room walls and the entire entrance mudroom with its lower cabinetry and wall panels. Additionally, special care was taken to protect and maintain the blue velvet panels, ensuring they remained pristine throughout the restoration process, including sanding and finishing.
Custom Creations
The custom work on the basement of the East Quogue project was a standout element, showcasing both ingenuity and precision. Initially, the basement had low ceilings and poorly utilized space, limiting its functionality. The team carefully analyzed the structure and made strategic adjustments to the framing, which allowed them to raise the ceiling heights and create a more open and usable area. They also reconfigured the soffits and other structural elements to enhance the overall design. The result was a transformed basement with increased space seamlessly integrated with the rest of the home, enhancing functionality and aesthetic appeal. This custom creation turned an underwhelming area into a practical and elegant part of the residence.
In The Details
This project entailed meticulous restoration and sourcing of the home’s unique hardware. The property featured old-fashioned button light switches with marble insets, which required careful replacement to match the original style. Additionally, numerous pieces of specialty hardware, such as doorknobs, door locks, and HVAC registrars, needed to be located and restored. This involved extensive searching to find exact matches, ensuring the restored hardware maintained the integrity of the original.
